School stories for kids starting school
Narrated stories set at school, for the weeks around a first day: an escaped class hamster, a new kid on the bench, a secret envelope for room 204. Five to fifteen minutes, free to play, no sign-up.
These are school adventures, not a step-by-step first-day guide: they make school feel like a good place to be.

Why a school story helps
Before a first day, school is a big unknown. A story set in a classroom makes it a place where good things happen: the class hamster pops its latch at nap time and scurries off, leaving a trail of sunflower seeds; a new kid sits alone on the bench until someone pulls them up to look at a cloud shaped like a bunny. For six-year-olds, school turns into an adventure: a fifth-grader whispers "deliver this to room 204 before the bell".
Talk about it afterwards
A school story is a good way in: "Who would you sit with?" "What would you do if someone was alone?" And because the hero makes choices in our stories, your child has already practised a few.
