Like a choose-your-own-adventure book, without the reading
The gamebooks many parents grew up with ("turn to page 42 to open the door") need a confident reader. These are told aloud, so a four-year-old can play too: the story pauses, the choices appear as big buttons, and the narrator carries on down the path your child picked. And because each story is written as it goes, there is no fixed set of endings to run out of.
What a choice does for a child
Choosing makes a child an author rather than an audience. They lean in at the fork, they argue with a sibling about which door, and they remember the story because it went where they sent it. For a younger child, choose together: ask what they think the hero should do, then let them tap it.
Not a game, not a screen habit
There is no score, no level to unlock and nothing to buy inside a story. The screen shows one picture per scene and the buttons at a fork; between choices, a child can close their eyes and just listen. If they drift off before choosing, the storyteller picks after a while and the story carries on to its end, which is the whole point at bedtime.
